Lohegaon, 1st April 2024: A state-of-the-art 100-bed sub-district hospital (SDH) is set to open soon, heralding a significant advancement in healthcare provision for Lohegaon and its surrounding regions. The decision to construct this hospital was made five years ago in response to the growing demand for healthcare services in the area, according to officials.

Spanning across six sprawling acres of land, the hospital will be equipped with a general ward, ICU, laboratory facilities, and screening services, it aims to cater efficiently to diverse healthcare needs.

Featuring thirteen specialized departments, including orthopedics, internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, and more, the hospital is geared towards providing advanced medical care. Additionally, onsite minor and major operation theaters will ensure swift and effective surgical interventions.

Dr. Nagnath Yempalle, the district civil surgeon, has affirmed that the hospital’s infrastructure is nearing completion, with final electrical works underway and expected to conclude shortly.

He stated that the inauguration will take place once all regulatory formalities are finalized. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a dialysis center within the premises.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, during his September visit to the facility, urged officials to expedite the hospital’s construction, originally slated for completion by January 24. However, delays ensued due to extended timelines mandated by the Public Works Department.

Constructed by the Public Health Department at a cost of ₹38.8 crore, the hospital addresses a critical gap in the region’s public healthcare infrastructure. Currently, locals must travel to Aundh District Hospital or Sassoon General Hospital for medical attention.

Upon becoming operational, the hospital will employ a staff of 96 individuals, comprising medical specialists, nurses, and paramedics. Authorities also envision constructing residential quarters within the hospital premises to accommodate employees in the future.
