Pune: NIA Interrogates Arrested ‘Most Wanted’ Men Planning Drone Filming Of Sensitive Locations
Pune, 22nd July 2023: Pune City Police foiled a potential terrorist attack in the city after apprehending two wanted men with a drone camera. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is currently conducting a thorough investigation, suspecting that they were planning to film sensitive places using the drone.
NIA’s interrogation of the two, Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yaku Saki (24) and Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yusuf Khan (23), both natives of Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh, who were caught in Kothrud area, has allegedly revealed their plan to carry out explosions using planted explosives in bikes. Authorities are actively seeking information about their accomplices and their whereabouts in Pune.
During the arrest, Imran Khan and Yunus Saki were found in possession of fake Aadhaar cards, drone materials, cartridges, white bullets, and a leather pouch for a pistol. Additionally, an electronic weighing fork was seized from their possession.
Pune is a significant military and research hub. NIA believes that the the two men intended to survey sensitive locations within the city. Further investigations are underway, and white pills found on Khan and Saki have been sent for forensic examination.
The arrested persons had been living in the Kondhwa area for over a year and a half, with their landlord failing to register their tenancy agreement. Although the police recovered one cartridge during a house search, the pistol remains missing.
Both Saki and Khan are believed to be affiliated with ‘Sufa,’ a terror organization inspired by the banned ISIS, and were also planning a bomb blast in Jaipur last year. The NIA had previously filed a case against them for possession of explosives.
