Pune: No FIR, No CBI probe, Rohit Pawar Questions Delay in Ajit Pawar Crash Investigation; To Reveal Evidence on Sept 4

Pune, 29th August 2026: Seven months after the death of former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Friday launched a sharp attack on the state government, alleging that efforts were being made to suppress the case and promising to expose those responsible with evidence next week.

A VSR Aviation aircraft crashed and caught fire while landing at Baramati airport on January 28, 2026, killing Ajit Pawar. Seven months on, Rohit Pawar questioned the slow pace of the investigation and alleged reluctance on the part of the administration to conduct a thorough probe.

In a social media post, the Karjat-Jamkhed MLA highlighted what he termed procedural and legal delays in the case.

“Seven months have passed since Ajitdada’s death, yet there has been no progress in the state CID investigation and the case has not been handed over to the CBI. Even a regular FIR has not been registered, and the FIR registered in Karnataka has also not been transferred by the Maharashtra government,” he said.

“Who is making such desperate attempts to protect VSR Aviation and why? I will reveal everything with evidence at a press conference on September 4,” Pawar said.

This is not the first time Pawar has raised questions over VSR Aviation’s operations and its financial dealings with the state government. Earlier, he had pointed to a sudden increase in funds allocated to the private aviation company during the first quarter of the year.

He claimed that VSR Aviation received a total of Rs 145 crore between January and March. “Records show that Rs 15.72 crore was released a day before the crash, Rs 9.81 crore on the day of the incident and Rs 16.86 crore the following day,” he said.

Pawar also questioned the sharp increase in payments during the period, claiming that the company’s average monthly billing for such services had been around Rs 10 crore.

With Pawar repeatedly alleging irregularities and demanding a high-level investigation by the CBI or a state CID team, his proposed September 4 press conference is being closely watched in political circles.
