Pune: No-Fly Zone Declared for Vice President’s Visit on March 22; Drones Prohibited

Pune, 18th March 2026: The Pune City Police have officially declared a “No-Fly Zone” and a “Temporary Red Zone” across the city’s jurisdiction in anticipation of the Vice President of India’s upcoming visit. The restriction will be in effect for 24 hours on March 22, 2026, to ensure the highest level of security for the VVIP.

According to the official notice issued by the Special Branch of the Pune City Police, the Vice President is scheduled to arrive at the Technical Airport in Lohgaon on the morning of March 22. From the airport, the Vice President will travel by car to the Nisargopchar Ashram in Uruli Kanchan to attend a scheduled program. Following the conclusion of the event, the convoy will return to the Lohgaon Technical Airport for a flight back to Delhi.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), Vivek Masal, stated that the decision to enforce a No-Fly Zone comes after several instances were observed where event organizers and participants used drones for photography and filming despite security protocols.

To prevent any security breaches or risks to the protected person, the police have invoked Rule 24 of the Drone Rules 2021. The entire Pune City Police Commissionerate area has been designated as a Temporary Red Zone.

Key Prohibitions:
A total ban on the use of drone cameras for any purpose.

Prohibition of aerial cinematography and photography.

Strict restricted flying of any remotely piloted aircraft.

The police have warned that any violation of these orders during the specified 24-hour period on March 22 will result in strict legal action.
