Pune, 1st April 2022: To mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and 351 years of the Maratha Army’s victory against the Mughal commander at the Sinhgad Fort, the Indian Army and Indrani Balan Foundation is organising ‘Narveer Tanaji Run’ on April 2 (Saturday).
Therefore, Pune District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has ordered the closure of vehicular traffic between 6 am and 12 noon at the Sinhagad Fort.
A total of 352 people, including 200 personnel from the Armed Forces and 151 civilians, will participate in the trek between Rajgad and Sinhagad forts in Pune.
The event has been organised to pay tribute to Tanaji Malusare, the commander of the Maratha Army under whose leadership the erstwhile Kondhana Fort was captured from the Mughal commander’s control.
The vehicular traffic has been closed it is the weekend and holiday for the Gudi Padwa festival, therefore it is possible that the number of tourists visiting the fort might cause traffic congestion, the order states.
