Pune, 1st April 2022: Till 25 years ago, Pune was known for its pleasant climate. However, the rapid urbanisation has brought extreme weathers conditions here.
Now a city-based organisation AnandVan has started a campaign for creating urban forests around Pune city.
AnandVan Mitra Mandal’s secretary Bhupesh Sharma said, “All of us have contributed to the urbanization wholeheartedly. Thousands of big and more than 100 years old trees have been cut to make concrete roads and heat emitting structures. Many of us have not even planted a single tree and watched it grow in our lifetime.”
He further added that if we have been the cause let’s also be a part of the solution:
  • Plant more native trees
  • Switch off our electronics when not in use
  • Walk or cycle at nearby places
“Create awareness of green all around and motivate others too. Our planet is our responsibility. Only Humans are destroying it. So let’s come together and save our planet by planting more trees around. We at AnandVan Foundation (AVMM)  Pune are here to help and guide people to create more urban forests in their vicinity”, Sharma appealed.
