Pune: Notorious Criminal Hacked To Death In Vadgaonsheri

Vadgaonsheri, 2nd November 2023: A horrifying incident took place on Wednesday night as a criminal on police records, Abhishek Dattu Rathod (22), residing in Mate Nagar, Vadgaonsheri, was hacked to death by a group of eight to ten unidentified persons. The attack, carried out with a sharp weapon, occurred around 9 pm on Wednesday in Sainikwadi locality of Vadgaonsheri, Pune.
According to police, Rathod had a prior criminal record at Chandan Nagar police station for charges including extortion, possession of illegal weapons etc. The assailants fled the spot immediately after committing the brutal murder.
Upon receiving information about the incident, officials from Yerwada and Chandannagar police stations arrived at the crime scene. The motive behind Rathod’s murder remains unclear.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Shashikant Borate, ACP (Yerwada division) Sanjay Patil, Senior Police Inspector Balkrishna Kadam, and Inspector (Crime) Kanchan Jadhav visited the site, providing instructions for a thorough investigation.
Police have seized two bikes and a sharp weapon from the crime scene. Multiple police teams have been dispatched to investigate the matter further.
Body of Rathod has been transferred to Sassoon Hospital for post-mortem examination.
