Pune: Now “Consultant” To Oversee Katraj-Kondhwa Road Project Now
Pune, January 7, 2021: While the waste of crores of rupees from the appointment of consultants for development works by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has become a topic of discussion; yet another shocking type of consultant appointment has emerged. The administration has now decided to appoint a consultant to oversee the post-tender work as well as the project work for the Rs 192 crore road work on the Katraj-Kondhwa road.
It is noteworthy that for the appointment of this consultant, a condition has been laid down to appoint a consultant who has worked for projects worth Rs 50 crore and is registered with the Municipal Corporation. Therefore, there is a discussion that the administration is planning this tender only for a specific consultant.
In the past few years, the corporation has decided to appoint a consultant for large projects. Consultants are being appointed by the administration for almost every project. Although the state government has set a limit on the fees to be paid to the consultants, there is a struggle in the municipal corporation to give maximum work to the consultants of choice. The same has happened with the Katraj-Kondhwa road.
One year after the commencement of the work on this road, the administration has again issued a tender notice for the appointment of a consultant for the post-tender activity and supervision of the work. It states that there should be an expert consultant on the tender corporation panel (also with further work experience of Rs 50 crore).
