Pune, May 21, 2020: Some of the clothing shops on Tilak Road opened on Wednesday. However, there is confusion among shopkeepers as to on which days the shops will open. The shops were cleaned two months later. Customers have started coming to buy clothes. It will no longer be possible to take a trial of clothes like before. Clothes have to be bought by size due to Coronavirus precautionary measures.

Shops on Laxmi Road, which has been closed for more than 50 days, reopened on Wednesday. Although gold and silver shops have started selling precious metals as well as clothing shops, shopkeepers are still waiting for customers.

All but the city’s essentials shops were closed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. As a result, shops on Laxmi Road were closed for more than fifty days. Five different non-essentials shops were opened on a road after the lockdown decision was relaxed. However, shops on Lakshmi Road were closed even after that. No non-essential shops and services were maintained at Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Tilak Road, Appa Balwant Chowk, Kumthekar Road, MG Road, Kondhwa Road, NIBM Road including Laxmi Road.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad on Tuesday extended the scope of decisions to keep shops and businesses open. Accordingly, the way was cleared for the shops on the famous Laxmi road to open on Wednesday. Apart from gold and silver and precious metal shops, shops selling textiles and readymade garments were also opened on Wednesday.
