Pune, August 29, 2020: Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao has ordered to impose a fine of Rs 500 on those who do not wear masks and Rs 1,000 if they are found spitting in public places.

“Corona infection is on the rise in Pune city, Pimpri Chinchwad city and rural areas of the district. To prevent this, citizens need to wear masks while travelling in public places. However, some citizens are seen walking around without wearing masks. The possibility of an increase in corona infection due to such citizens cannot be ruled out. The power to recover the fine has been given to the police, police mitra, health workers and municipal employees”, said Rao.

Meanwhile, on Thursday (27th) in Pune, the highest number of patients was recorded in five and a half months. This is the sixth time that more than 3500 patients have been found. Experts believe that the number of patients is increasing due to non-use of masks and non-compliance with social distance. As a result, those who do not use the mask will be fined Rs 500.

Appropriate legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code will be taken against the person, organization or association concerned if anyone argues while imposing the fine, Rao said.
