Pune: Now Waiting Ticket Passengers Can Get A Confirmed Berth In Train Itself, Railways Provide TCs Hand Held Terminals

Pune, 3rd June 2022: If one does not have a confirmed ticket; however, if a seat is available on the train, one will no longer need to request a Ticket Collector (TC) to obtain it. This is because when the passenger chart is done, the information about the number of seats available on the train before the arrival of the respective train at the station will be displayed on the mobile and the screen at the station. Also, passengers will be able to get a confirmed ticket on the train itself.

The Pune Railway Division has received 96 Hand Held Terminal (HHT) machines from the Railway Board through which this facility will be available and planning regarding this is underway by the railway administration.

It is observed that seats are available between some of the middle stations in long haul trains. In such cases, some passengers with the help of TCs travel without getting a ticket which is causing damage to the railways.

The Railway Board took this decision a few years ago to prevent this type of fraud and to bring transparency in the work of ticket inspection. The scheme is being implemented now. However, this feature will not be available in all trains. HHT machines will be provided to ticket supervisors on certain trains. Ticket checking staff will be from Pune and the trains will receive the machine whose staff is from Pune. The trains like Shatabdi, Humsafar, etc. will get an HHT machine.

What will be the benefit to the passengers?

After making the main chart, while the current chart is being prepared, if the seat is available, the passengers can get the ticket immediately. Apart from this, passengers will get to know in which coaches, and how many seats with the seat number are available. Confirm tickets will be available on the train itself, so there will be no penalty without a ticket.

Dr Milind Hirve, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Railways, Pune Division informed that “The HHT machine will be with the TC. It will have a SIM card which will be directly connected to the reservation centre. After checking the box, the number of the seat on which there is no passenger will have to be recorded in this machine. This will be available at the reservation centres once it is done. Therefore, passengers at the station will get information about this.”

“96 HHT machines have been provided for Pune. These machines will be operational once the technical work is completed. This will benefit the passengers,” he added further.
