Pune: One more person detected Coronavirus positive, the total count reaches 17

Pune, March 17, 2020: Another Corona infected patient was found in Pimpri-Chinchwad area today. Therefore, the number of coronavirus positive patients in the Pune district has now reached 17. The patient had returned from the USA.

Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar said, “Each person returning from abroad will be kept in an isolation room for 24 hours. It will be implemented from March 19. The inspection will be carried out in a separate room for 24 hours. If it is found to be negative, then the passenger will have to remain in home-based isolation for 14 days at his / her own home. Violation of this rule would result in stern action against the person concerned.”

The State Government is taking all possible steps to contain the spread of the Coronavirus. To invite private companies in this mission, Health Minister Rajesh Tope today conducted a meeting with representatives of corporate companies at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai. The companies agreed to follow the ‘work from home’ system for their employees while conducting their ‘virtual meetings’. Through them drugs, masks, sanitizer, ventilators etc. will be made available, the Health Minister said.

On this occasion Principal Secretary of Health Dr Pradip Vyas, Commissioner Anupkumar Yadav and experts in the fields of medicines, banks, management chiefs, and health sector were present.

Health Minister Tope said that to avoid crowded places is the best measure to check the spread of coronavirus. For this, people are advised to travel minimum.

The private companies have allowed their employees to work from home and regular meeting are also conducted virtually, the HR managers told.

Through the corporate social responsibility (VSR) funds of the companies, masks, sanitizers, PPE Kits, ventilators, will be made available to the government, the companies agreed to this, the Minister said adding that they also agreed to make isolation facility available for the patients. The companies will also be supplying the necessary medicines free of cost, the Health Minister said.

These companies have recommended closure of all other services, establishments, and offices except the emergency services, the Health Minister said. These private companies have shown their willingness to participate in the awareness campaign and through the CSR various media can be used for this. The meeting discussed making separate arrangements for the daily wage earners.

The Health Minister made it clear that the government allowed treatment of corona patients in private hospitals also. Centre’s permission will be sought to conduct coronavirus tests in private labs, the Health Minister said.
