Pune to Host Hundred Masters Badminton Tournament with 700+ Veteran Players

Pune, 21st August 2025: Pune is all set to witness one of the most exciting celebrations of veteran badminton — the Hundred Masters Badminton Tournament, bringing together players from across the world, both from within India and outside. The event will take place on August 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2025 at the LSBI Badminton Arena, Wadgaon Sheri, Pune, and promises to be a grand sporting carnival for masters players aged 40 to 80 years.

This event is brought to Pune by Raj Singh, veteran National and International badminton champion and co-founded by his long time friend and partner Shekhar Yadav who is the team secretary as well.
They’re supported by a strong team of IT professional and non IT professionals who manage various aspects of this tournament, Niranjan Bhate, Brinda Thomas, Bhakti Baldota, Jayant Pawar, MKSM Jeelani, Sujaya Shetty and other notable allies.

This year, the tournament has received an overwhelming response with more than 700 participants registered, making it one of the largest gatherings of veteran badminton players in the country.

Among the notable entries are, Retd. ACP Ajay Shukla, Retd. ACP Manohar Joshi, Retd. ACP Vinod Satav, Retd. Brig. Vasudev, Retd. Brig. Srinivasan , Retd.Brig Subir Chakravarti and veteran players like V Gauri (79) Vinod Dharap(75) , V Venkatachalaiah (78), Vinod Dharap, Jaya Prakash Ramappa (78) and Dr.Arun Gunde.

The unique spirit of this tournament lies in its theme – “Love All, Play All” – highlighting friendship, fitness, and togetherness through badminton. More than just competition, this event is a gathering of passionate players who continue to inspire through their dedication to the sport, regardless of age.

To honor achievements, the organizers have announced Gold Medals and Badminton Rackets for all Winners, Silver Medals and Badminton Kitbags for Runners-up, and Bronze Medals for both 3rd place finishers in every category. In addition, champions will also be felicitated with the iconic Puneri Topi, symbolizing Pune’s culture and tradition.

For the first time in the history of badminton, two special felicitations will be held to honor one distinguished player each from the Men’s and Women’s categories. These players will be recognized for their lifelong contribution to badminton and will be awarded a Puneri Pagadi, Shawl, and a Cash Prize of ₹11,000/- each, marking a historic moment of respect and gratitude.

The tournament is also designed as a sports carnival, ensuring that participants feel celebrated both on and off the court. Breakfast and lunch will be served on all three days, while fruits, tea, and coffee will be available throughout the day to keep players refreshed and energized.
