Pune, 13th February 2024: In a decisive move against modified Bullet silencers, the Pune Police, led by DCP (Traffic) Sashikant Borate, have ramped up efforts, taking action against over a thousand altered silencers within a mere five days. The officer disclosed that the crackdown is set to target an additional 5,000 modified silencers in the coming days.

During an exclusive interview with Punekar News, DCP Borate stressed the importance of rigorous enforcement, citing a recent special drive on February 8th and 9th. In this operation, Pune Police honed in on 571 Royal Enfield riders equipped with modified silencers. The crackdown focused on key areas, including Airport, Handewadi, Koregaon Park, Deccan, Bharti Vidyapeeth, and Hadapsar traffic divisions.

The enforcement didn’t conclude with fines – police officers proactively removed and dismantled the modified silencers from the motorcycles, sending a strong message against the use of such alterations.

DCP Borate, alongside action on modified silencers, announced plans to combat tinted glass or black filming in four-wheelers. This follows the 2023 initiative where Pune traffic police cracked down on 13,928 violators, resulting in a significant fine collection of Rs 1,23,070,00.

He affirmed the police’s commitment to tackling notorious cases of drink and drive, with plans to extend operations to nighttime.
