Pune, 13th February 2024: Two women police constables from the Damini Squad, along with Assistant Police Inspector (API) Pramod Dorkar, have been suspended for alleged misconduct towards a woman at Magarpatta City Police Chowky under Hadapsar Police Station. The orders for suspension were issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) R Raja in response to the incident.

The suspended officers, namely API Dorkar, Women Police Constables Usha Sonkamble, and Vaishali Udamle, face suspension following accusations of misbehavior during an investigation related to a theft case registered under IPC 380 on February 1, 2024, at Hadapsar police station.

On February 9, Hadapsar police issued a notice under CrPC 160, summoning the victim to Magarpatta police chowky for questioning, as the complainant expressed suspicion regarding the crime.

Following an interrogation by women police officers, the concerned woman was released into the custody of her relatives, with an understanding that she would reappear around 5:30 in the evening.

However, fearing possible arrest, the woman returned to the Magarpatta police chowky accompanied by her relatives, creating a commotion and accusing the police of assault. A video capturing the incident went viral on social media.

Responding to the public outcry, an inquiry was initiated based on the complaint of the woman involved, as directed by senior police officers. Subsequently, API Dorkar, along with Damini Squad police constables Usha Sonkamble and Vaishali Udmale, were suspended, confirmed DCP Raja.
