Pune: Over 2.5 Lakh Students Allotted Colleges in Second Round of Class XI Admissions in Maharashtra

Pune, 17th July 2025: In the second regular round of Class XI (FYJC) admissions for the academic year 2025-26, a total of 2,51,804 students across Maharashtra have been allotted seats in junior colleges, according to the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Of these, 43,802 students are from the Pune division.

The Centralized Online Admission Process (CAP) is being conducted statewide and includes 9,483 junior colleges offering 19,324 branch-wise and grant-wise blocks.

In this round, 1,29,035 students were allotted seats in the science stream, 69,442 in commerce, and 53,327 in arts. In Pune division specifically, 25,623 students received seats in the science stream, 10,994 in commerce, and 7,075 in arts. In Mumbai division, 28,822 students were admitted to the science stream, 43,354 to commerce, and 7,227 to arts, bringing the total for the division to 79,403.

Dr. Mahesh Palkar, Director of the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said that students allotted colleges in this round must visit the respective institutions in person and confirm their admission between July 18 and 21, 2025.

So far, out of the 14,10,612 students who registered for FYJC admissions, a total of 5,07,288 students have secured seats. Of these, 4,31,615 were admitted through the CAP system, and 75,673 through various quota categories.

Maharashtra has a total of 21,32,960 seats available across junior colleges. Of these, 17,60,098 seats fall under the CAP system, and 3,72,862 under quotas. Despite two rounds of admission, 13,28,483 CAP seats and 2,97,189 quota seats remain vacant—amounting to 16,25,672 unfilled seats overall.

The state education department is expected to initiate additional admission rounds to fill the remaining vacancies in the coming weeks.
