Pune: Over 300 SPPU Language Students Await Results for Over 100 Days; Protest Planned from 14th September

Pune, 8th September 2026: More than 300 students from the Language Department (Kher Vangmay Bhavan) at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) are still awaiting the results of their First Year, Second Semester examinations conducted in May 2026. With over 100 days having passed since the examinations, students have warned of a peaceful protest outside the university’s Examination and Evaluation Department from September 14 if the pending results are not declared.

The pending results pertain specifically to M.A. Marathi and M.A. English students. Despite appearing for their examinations in May 2026, the results are yet to be announced. According to students, university norms require examination results to be declared within 45 days.

The prolonged delay has reportedly affected the academic progress and financial stability of more than 300 students. With their results pending, several students have been unable to complete formalities related to admission to the second year and access various academic facilities and student welfare schemes.

Students said they have also been unable to avail themselves of benefits under the Earn and Learn Scheme, also known as the Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Scheme, scholarships and other welfare initiatives. Access to facilities including libraries, reading rooms, internet services and other academic resources has also been affected.

A significant number of students in the Language Department come from rural, farming, working-class, Dalit, OBC, Adivasi and Bahujan backgrounds. For many, the Earn and Learn Scheme provides crucial financial assistance to continue their education. Students have alleged that the delay in declaring results has deprived them of this support.

Abhishek Shelkar, President of the University Students’ Struggle Action Committee (SPPU Unit), criticised the delay and demanded immediate intervention by the university administration.

“The 100th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan is scheduled to be held at Savitribai Phule Pune University in January 2027. Marathi was also granted Classical Language status in 2024. It is extremely unfortunate that at a university known for preserving language, literature and culture, the results of students studying language subjects have remained pending for more than 100 days,” Shelkar said.

He added that the delay by the Examination and Evaluation Department was causing serious academic losses to hundreds of students and urged the university to declare the results immediately.

Sakshi Bansode, a student from the Marathi Department, said that despite appearing for the First Year, Second Semester examinations in May 2026, students are still waiting for their results.

“The pending results have created difficulties in accessing several academic facilities during the second year, including regular use of libraries and reading rooms. The results must be declared urgently for the academic progress of students,” she said.

Another student, Shrikant Kamble from Bhasha Bhavan, said the delay was affecting students’ access to admissions, scholarships and welfare schemes.

“More than 100 days have passed since the May 2026 examinations, despite the expectation that results should be declared within 45 days. Students have been unable to benefit from second-year admission processes, the Earn and Learn Scheme, scholarships and other student welfare initiatives. This delay is seriously affecting their academic and financial future,” he said.

Attempts were made to contact Rajendra Talware, the concerned official from the Examination and Evaluation Department, regarding the delay. However, no response had been received at the time of publishing.

The University Students’ Struggle Action Committee (SPPU Unit) has demanded the immediate declaration of results for all affected M.A. Marathi and M.A. English students. The committee has warned that if the results are not announced promptly, students will launch a constitutional and peaceful protest outside the Examination and Evaluation Department from 14th September 2026.

The students have urged the SPPU administration to take immediate cognisance of the matter and declare the pending results without further delay, stressing that the issue directly concerns their academic progression and financial future.
