Maval, 8th September 2026: The search for the parents of the girl aged around 1.5 to 2 years found abandoned near the Bhandara hill in Sudawadi village in Maval has ended after her family was traced, police said. The girl was found alone at the hill two days ago, following which police had launched a search to identify and locate her parents.
A senior police officer said the parents were traced and it was revealed that they had only left the girl due to some financial issues and dispute in the family. The family is originally from Uttar Pradesh and the father works in a local form.
The incident came to light around 3 pm on September 6, when the girl was found in the temple premises in the limits of Sudawadi village in Maval taluka. She was subsequently taken into care while police began efforts to trace her family.
According to the complaint filed by a police personnel attached to the Talegaon MIDC police station under the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, the child had allegedly been left abandoned despite her parents being responsible for her care and upbringing.
A case was registered against the parents at the Talegaon MIDC police station at 4.58 pm on September 7 under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, along with relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
