Pune, 15th March 2021: Lila Poonawalla Foundation (LPF) recently awarded Merit-cum-Need-Based Scholarships to meritorious but financially-challenged girls from Pune. These girls are pursuing under graduation degrees in engineering (4 years & after Diploma), Pharmacy and Nursing.

Keeping in mind COVID-19 pandemic prevention protocols, this year the Scholarships Award function was divided amongst six functions, spread across three days. The girls were felicitated with the Scholarship awards at the hands of LPF’s corporate partners, board of trustees and scholarship selection committee members.

“In our 25th year, LPF has achieved the milestone of empowering over 11,000 girls. Our humongous efforts in these 25 years would not have been possible without the contribution of our Corporate Partners and well-wishers. The strategic and holistic partnership which goes beyond project funding from these corporate partners that includes their employees’ volunteering, leader’s mentoring and internship placement opportunities for our girls is adding value to their learning and experiences. My vision is to take LPF on India Map, so that more deserving girls get an opportunity to pursue their aspirations of professional education and career,” said Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson, LPF and the recipient of the Padma Shri award.

In its journey, LPF has awarded scholarships not just in Pune but in Wardha, Amravati, Nagpur and Hyderabad, Telangana. Many of LPF’s senior girls have become successful women leaders, associated with Corporates, academic institutions and world-renowned organizations across the globe.
