Pune: Overcharging of COVID patients in private hospitals to be probed
Pune, June 19, 2020: Divisional Commissioner Deepak Mhaisekar has appointed a five-member committee to probe into the complaints regarding overcharging Coronavirus infected patients by private hospitals and even denying treatment to them.
Mhaisekar has issued orders to register cases against the errant hospitals if they are found guilty of meting out injustice to COVID patients. Mhaisekar announced while chairing a district-level COVID19 meet attended by District Collector Naval Kishore Ram, Pune Municipal Commissioner (PMC) Shekhar Gaikwad and several senior officials two days ago.
He further added that special squads must be formed to check the spread of Coronavirus in the society and also take steps for the prevention of the spread of the contagion. Mhaisekar also directed for conducting an audit of the private hospitals as a measure to keep their activities under check.
