Pune Palkhi 2026: Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi to Depart from Alandi on July 8
Pune, 14th May 2026: The annual Ashadhi Wari procession of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Sohala will commence from Alandi on July 8, 2026, and proceed towards Pandharpur. As per tradition, the palkhi procession will depart from the Samadhi Temple at around 3 pm in the presence of lakhs of devotees.
Palkhi Sohala chief Advocate Rajendra Umap announced the schedule during a press conference held at the devotees’ accommodation facility of the Alandi Devasthan on Wednesday. Trustees, procession representatives, and members of the dindi community were present on the occasion.
The Pune district administration has assured the Devasthan of all necessary facilities for the procession. Following this assurance, the traditional two-day halt of the palkhi in Pune will continue at the Palkhi Vitthal Temple area in Bhavani Peth.
There had been discussions about shifting the halt location due to space constraints and inadequate civic amenities in the area. However, District Collector Jitendra Dudi assured the temple authorities that adequate arrangements would be made. Meetings have also been conducted regarding the acquisition of three private properties adjacent to the temple to improve crowd management and create additional space.
According to the administration, encroachments around the temple premises have been removed, and steps are being taken to widen roads along the palkhi route to ensure the smooth movement of devotees.
Advocate Rajendra Umap said the positive response from Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol, MLA Hemant Rasane, and the district administration played a key role in retaining the traditional halt location in Bhavani Peth.
The palkhi will reach Pandharpur on July 24, while the Ashadhi Ekadashi celebration will be observed on July 25. The return journey towards Alandi will begin on July 29 after the completion of rituals in Pandharpur.
