Pune: Parents Of Groom And Bride Arrested For Arranging Marriage Of Minor Girl
Pune, 11th November 2022: Four individuals, parents of a bride and a groom, were arrested by the police as a minor girl was being married in Shikrapur. An unknown person informed the police about this.
The names of the arrested are former Sanaswadi Sarpanch Rohini Ravindra Bhujbal, Ravindra Bapu Bhujbal, residents of Shikrapur, Ramesh alias Ramdas Dilip Tamhane, and Reshma Dilip Tamhane, residents of Talegaon Dhamdhere. Rohini Bhujbal is the former Sarpanch of Sanaswadi. She arranged the marriage of her son Ketan with the minor daughter of Tamhane, an entrepreneur.
Since this girl is a minor, an unknown person lodged a complaint with Village Development Officer Balnath Pawle. After they confirmed the age of the bride, all of them were arrested on the orders of Police Inspector Hemant Shedge of Shikrapur Police Station. Sub-Inspector Umesh Khatavkar is conducting further investigations.
