Pune: PCMC Completes Survey to Boost Youth Skilling Under Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana
Pimpri Chinchwad, 6th January 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has completed a comprehensive household survey under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana (CMYKPY), covering over 31,400 households across 44 slums in the city. The survey aimed to collect vital data on youth demographics, skills, and career aspirations to inform targeted skilling and employment programs.
The survey identified 18,000 youth aged 18-35, revealing that 24% have not completed 10th grade, while 34% have finished 12th grade. Only 2% hold postgraduate or diploma qualifications. In terms of skill awareness, 21% have completed vocational training, and 16% are aware of five or more job roles available in the market.
PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh emphasized the survey’s importance in shaping future initiatives, stating, “The findings provide us with a clear roadmap to address the needs of our youth. It enables us to focus on skilling, career counselling, and creating opportunities that align with their aspirations and job market demands.”
Based on the survey results, the PCMC is planning several data-driven actions. These include developing tailored skill development programs in IT, healthcare, and manufacturing; enhancing community engagement through outreach campaigns; and providing focused career counselling to help youth make informed decisions.
PCMC aims to create a sustainable ecosystem promoting growth and opportunities for all by aligning its initiatives with the survey findings. This comprehensive approach is expected to bridge the gap between youth aspirations and job market requirements, ultimately contributing to the overall development of the region.
