Pune: PCMC Does Not Need Immediate Water Cut – Water Supply Department

Pimpri, 8th July 2022: Due to three days of continuous rains in the catchment areas, Pavana Dam has accumulated enough water for two weeks required by Pimpri Chinchwad. Therefore, the city does not need water cut immediately, the Water Supply Department of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has clarified.

Pimpri Chinchwad has been experiencing water shortage for the last two and a half years. The situation was such that more water had to be cut into it. The Irrigation Department had instructed PCMC in a letter to use water sparingly and reduce water cut further.

Against this backdrop, there were signs that more water would have to be cut. However, it has been raining continuously in the Pavana dam area for the last three days. The water storage in Pavana Dam has reached 20%. The Water Supply Department clarified on Thursday (July 7) that there would be no immediate water cut.
