Pune: PCMC Employees Ordered to Pay Property Tax by February 28 or Face Salary Hold

Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th February 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) employees have been instructed to pay property tax on properties owned by themselves or their family members by February 28th. Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil has warned that officers and employees who fail to comply will not receive their March salaries. This directive has sparked discussions within PCMC, which employs over ten thousand officers and staff, both permanent and contractual.
The PCMC’s Taxation and Tax Collection Department has intensified its property tax collection campaign, sealing 850 properties of defaulters, mostly owned by non-residents. Additionally, the process of auctioning 438 properties is underway. Most PCMC officers and employees reside in Pimpri-Chinchwad city, and they and their family members own properties in the area, making them subject to this mandatory tax payment.
The order applies to all PCMC employees, including those on a contractual, temporary, and honorarium basis. They must submit tax payment receipts to the clerk in the Tax Collection Department. If an employee or their family member does not own property in Pimpri Chinchwad city, they must provide a certificate to that effect. Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil has stated in the order that failure to pay property tax will result in the withholding of March salaries.
Thousands of contractors work for PCMC, including both large and small contractors and suppliers. Most of these contractors and their representatives live in Pimpri-Chinchwad city and own properties there. The order extends to them as well, requiring them to pay property tax before receiving payment for their work with PCMC.
