Pune: PCMC License Inspectors Issued Show Cause Notices For Neglecting Action Against Unauthorized Hoardings

Pimpri, 31st May 2023: Two license inspectors from the Sky Signs and Licensing Department of PCMC, Rajesh Bandal and Subhash Malekar, have been served show cause notices by Additional Commissioner Jitendra Wagh for their failure to take action against unauthorized billboards despite specific orders.
License Inspector Rajendra Chaudhary, who has been on medical leave, has been directed by Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh to report to work immediately.
The incident that triggered these actions occurred in April, when an illegal iron billboard collapsed in Kiwale, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives. Following this incident, Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh ordered a comprehensive survey of all unauthorized billboards in the city. The survey revealed the presence of 92 new illegal billboards.
In response to the findings, Commissioner Singh issued a directive to promptly take action against these unauthorized billboards, as well as those cases that were pending in court where the structural stability reports had not been submitted to the Municipal Corporation. However, license inspectors Malekar and Bandal neglected to carry out the necessary actions against these billboards. Consequently, show cause notices have been issued to them, questioning their failure to fulfill their duties and warning of potential disciplinary measures.
