Pune: PCMC Municipal Secretary Ulhas Jagtap Appointed As Additional Commissioner
Pimpri Chinchwad, 22nd September 2023: In a recent development within the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Municipal Secretary Ulhas Jagtap has been elevated to the position of Third Additional Commissioner, a vacancy created specifically for local officers within the municipal corporation. The formal announcement was made through an order issued by the Deputy Secretary to the Maharashtra State Government.
This promotion stems from a structural modification within the corporation that saw the creation of three additional commissioner posts. Among these, two were designated for officers on deputation, while the third was earmarked for promotion within the municipal ranks. The officers occupying the deputation posts are Pradeep Jambhale and Vijay Khorate from the State Service. Ulhas Jagtap took charge of the additional commissioner post from February 19, 2021, making strides towards this recent promotion.
The appointment received backing following a proposal from Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh dated May 2, 2023, and the subsequent endorsement by a government-level committee established for the selection of additional commissioners. The committee rendered its approval, crediting Jagtap as the sole qualifying officer within the municipal establishment for this esteemed position, hence his appointment as Additional Commissioner by selection.
Ulhas Jagtap is slated for a ten-month tenure as Additional Commissioner. It is speculated that the duties incumbent to the Municipal Secretary’s post may continue under his purview alongside his new responsibilities.
