Pune: PCMC Takes Action Against Companies Releasing Sewage Water In Rivers
Pimpri, 2nd February 2023: Companies that directly discharge chemical and sewage water into the Pavana, Indrayani, and Mula rivers, which flow through Pimpri-Chinchwad city, will be subject to enforcement action.
According to Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, a survey will be conducted in the riverbank regions.
Some city businesses are using drainage systems to discharge sewage laced with chemicals into all three of these rivers. As a result, the problem of river contamination has gained attention. The Chikhli region was inspected by representatives of the Municipal Corporation’s Drainage Department and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Corporation. In light of this, a case has been filed in the Chikhli police station against six companies.
Patil also ensured that systems will be created to ensure that wastewater and pollutants are released in drainage systems and not rivers.
