Pune: PCMC Takes Action Against Gym for Unauthorized Flex Banners in Wakad
Wakad, 30th December 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken action against a gym for erecting flex banners without proper authorization and permission. The PCMC administration has registered a criminal case against the gym owner in this regard. The advertisement was for the upcoming New Year, but due to the lack of permission and the erection of multiple banners, a case has been filed.
The owner of Sigma World Fitness in Wakad’s Shankar Kalat Nagar has been booked. License Inspector Raju Vetal from the Skysign and License Department of PCMC filed a complaint with the Wakad Police Station. Charges against the gym owner include relevant sections of The Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1995.
According to police reports, the New Year advertisement banners for Sigma World Fitness were erected across Wakad, including over 50 banners, without any authorization from the Skysign and License Department of PCMC. Following incidents like the Kiwale accident, where a hoarding fell resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to three in April 2023, and the Ghatkopar hoarding incident in Mumbai, where 17 people were killed and more than 75 injured, civic bodies across Maharashtra have taken action. Unauthorized banners and flexes are being taken down, and cases are being registered.
Assistant Police Inspector Gajjewar from Wakad Police Station is investigating the matter further.
