Pune: PCMC To Allow Distribution Of Property Tax Payments Through Women’s Self-Help Groups
Pimpri, 12th April 2023: Through the Social Development Department of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), grants are being implemented to encourage women’s self-help groups, and activities like the Pavanathadi fair are being organised to increase their financial income.
Now, to employ women, the property tax payments for the financial years 2023-24 will be distributed at home through the women of the self-help group. Payment distribution work will be taken up soon.
The number of properties in the city is increasing. At present, 5.94 lakh receipts are recorded and 11.88 lakh payments are to be printed. Last year, for the first time, the municipal corporation decided to distribute payments through the Postal Department, and Rs 18 lakhs was also spent for the same.
However, there were complaints to the municipal corporation that the property owners in various parts of the city had not received the payments. Therefore, property tax payments will be distributed through the women of the registered self-help groups in the city instead of the post office.
Various facilities have been made available online by the PCMC regarding home income to the property owners. This year, a barcode has been arranged for the payment of tax. After scanning the barcode, it will be possible to pay the tax. Also, in this bill, Rs 720 bill was included for annual wet and dry waste classification.
Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, Taxation and Collection Department, PCMC said, “Property tax payments will be distributed through the women of the self-help groups to generate income for the women’s self-help groups in the city. For this, the information of the registered self-help group from the Social Development Department of the municipality has been taken. Women in self-help groups know their locality and it will be easier for them to get the work done.”
