Pune: PCMC Urges Residents to Save Water as Monsoon Uncertainty Looms
Pimpri Chinchwad, 18th March 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued a critical public appeal to all residents of the area, emphasizing the importance of water conservation as the summer season begins. With uncertainties surrounding the onset of the monsoon, there exists a real possibility of water scarcity in the city if the monsoon arrives late. Therefore, every citizen must start using water judiciously and efficiently from now onwards.
The appeal stresses the need to avoid the misuse of drinking water. Citizens are urged to utilize drinking water responsibly for domestic purposes, and any remaining water should not be discarded but instead reused wherever possible. Additionally, drinking water should not be squandered for activities such as cleaning vehicles, gardening, or washing household premises.
Society administrators are encouraged to maintain Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and borewells in good condition, utilizing their water for tasks like flushing toilets and maintaining garden areas within the society. Those found misusing drinking water will receive a warning, and repeated offenders will face immediate water disconnection.
All residents are reminded that water is life, and it must be conserved diligently to ensure its availability until the onset of the monsoon. Responsible water usage, such as refraining from using drinking water for unnecessary tasks like vehicle cleaning or road washing, is highlighted as essential.
As responsible citizens, individuals are encouraged by PCMC to take simple yet effective steps to conserve water, including repairing leaking taps promptly and refraining from wasteful practices like watering roads or using drinking water for gardening.
The appeal concludes with a heartfelt plea for residents to recognize their responsibility in water conservation efforts, ensuring that there is no shortage of water before the monsoon arrives. By using water wisely and sparingly, every citizen can contribute to ensuring a tolerable summer season for all.
