Pimpri, 21st January 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is set to transition to a paperless system by digitizing file movement across its departments, aiming to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accelerate work processes.

A senior official from PCMC confirmed that the new e-filing system, also known as the Document Management System (DMS), will be rolled out starting January 26. From that date, all new files will be processed online. “Under this system, the traditional physical movement of files between departments for approvals or consultation will be eliminated,” the official said. “Stakeholders will be able to review and approve files or provide their feedback digitally, reducing the need for manual intervention and saving both time and manpower.”

The official further explained that the departments will no longer require a physical inward and outward section to manage new files once the system is in place. However, the current offline process will remain until the files are scanned and uploaded to the system. All future documents, including government records, will be saved electronically, allowing officials to access them with a single click.

“The system will offer greater transparency by allowing municipal officials to track the duration a file has been pending in a specific department, along with any comments attached to it,” the official added.

Last week, PCMC conducted a training session for over 1,900 employees, including clerks and junior engineers, who will be directly involved in handling the files under the new system. The first session provided a foundation, and another session is scheduled this week. The training also includes creating a digital stamp for each department and e-signatures for employees. “We are ensuring that our staff is fully equipped to handle the new system efficiently,” the official said.
