Pune: Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Container Truck In Moshi
Pimpri Chinchwad, 30th September 2026: An unidentified pedestrian was killed after being hit by a speeding container truck while crossing the Pune-Nashik highway at Bharatmata Chowk in Moshi early Monday morning.
The accident took place around 3.45am on September 28.
Police have registered a case against Zeeshan Anwar Khan (33), a resident of Moshi and originally from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Police constable Machhindra Laxman Kokatre (37) lodged a complaint at the MIDC Bhosari police station on Monday.
According to police, the victim, estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old, was crossing the Pune-Nashik highway at Bharatmata Chowk when the container, travelling from Bhosari towards Chakan, hit him.
Police said the container driver allegedly drove at high speed and ignored traffic regulations, resulting in the collision. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and died in the accident.
The incident comes amid concerns over the rising number of road accidents in the city with the increase in vehicular traffic. Police have identified speeding, traffic violations and negligent driving among the factors contributing to accidents, while pedestrians taking risks while crossing busy roads also face significant danger.
