Pune: PMRDA To Form Dedicated Squad To Crack Down On Encroachments
Pune, 30th September 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) will form a dedicated anti-encroachment squad with additional staff and machinery to remove illegal constructions, hoardings and encroachments on roads and reserved plots.
PMRDA commissioner Abhijit Chaudhary said the squad would focus on both preventing new encroachments and clearing existing ones. Since January 2026, the authority has removed 153 unauthorised hoardings and 919 illegal constructions.
PMRDA will also introduce paid parking in Sectors 11 and 12 in Moshi to curb unauthorised parking.
On Chakan’s traffic congestion, Chaudhary said seven roads under the decongestion project are expected to be completed by November-December, while land acquisition for four others is underway. Proposals for land acquisition for the western bypass and roads in Mhalunge have been sent to the district collector.
