Pimpri-Chinchwad, 7th July 2025: In a major step toward resolving chronic traffic congestion near underpasses along the Wakad to Mamurdi stretch, a key review meeting was held under the leadership of BJP’s Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap. The meeting focused on long-term solutions and the improvement of service roads along National Highway 48. Officials were directed to complete the 9.7 km stretch of concrete road work and maintenance within one year.

Emphasizing the critical importance of service roads for daily traffic movement, MLA Jagtap instructed officials to prioritize and expedite the work. He also called for immediate measures to decongest major intersections along the highway.

To ensure smooth traffic flow during construction, MLA Jagtap recommended the implementation of the “push-back structure” method at key points such as Sayaji Hotel (Hinjawadi), Bhumkar Chowk, Tathawade, Punawale, Ravet (near Sameer Lawns), Pavana river stretch, Mukai Chowk, and Tathawade. This technique will help speed up construction while minimizing disruption to traffic.

Additionally, coordination with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was stressed to fast-track the completion of PQC concrete road projects.

The meeting was attended by NHAI Project Director Sanjay Kadam, Senior Engineer Subhash Ghante, Engineer Omkar Jagdale, consultant representatives Parmeshwar Aravatkar, Anant Kulkarni, Rakesh Kohli (Reliance Infrastructure), and Haren Yadav and Vikram Patil (DMR Infra). PCMC officials including Executive Engineer Sunil Shinde, Deputy Engineers Ravindra Suryawanshi and Chandrakant More, as well as InfraKing consultants and other department representatives were also present.

MLA Shankar Jagtap said, “These measures will bring permanent relief to local residents from daily traffic snarls. The MLA office will monitor the quality and speed of work regularly,”
