Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Man Murdered Over Illicit Relationship Between His Wife and Brother
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 7th July 2025: In a shocking revelation, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested two individuals, a woman and her brother-in-law, in connection with the murder of 33-year-old Dhanu Lakade, whose body was found at his residence in Charholi Budruk. The murder took place sometime between 8 PM on July 4 and 11:30 AM on July 5, and was initially reported as a murder committed by an unknown person.
Lakade, a resident of Alandi Road and originally from Daund, was found bludgeoned to death with a blunt weapon. A case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 103 (murder) was registered at Dighi Police Station.
Senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Suhas Awhad and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr. Shivaji Pawar, visited the crime scene, after which multiple police teams were formed to crack the case. The Anti-Gunda Squad and Anti-Extortion Cell also joined the investigation.
Police reviewed CCTV footage and conducted technical analysis, which revealed a suspicious affair between the victim’s wife and his younger brother. The motive became clearer when investigators learned that the deceased was allegedly creating problems in the relationship between the two.
The police arrested Somnath Ladke (19, resident of Alandi Road, native of Daund), the victim’s brother, who had initially attempted to mislead investigators by filing a false complaint. During interrogation, Ladke confessed to the murder, stating that his brother was an obstacle to his illicit relationship.
The Anti-Extortion Cell later traced and arrested Sheetal Lakade (25), the victim’s wife and co-accused, who had gone into hiding after the incident. Medical examinations of both accused have been completed, and Dighi Police continue to investigate.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Pimpri-Chinchwad police officials, with efforts led by Senior Police Inspectors Santosh Patil and Rajendra Pawar, and teams from the Anti-Gunda Squad and Anti-Extortion Cell.
