Pune, December 8, 2020: Petrol prices in Pune have gone up to Rs 90 again as petrol prices are currently rising across the country. Earlier, in September 2018, petrol prices in the city had crossed Rs 90. Petrol price has increased by more than Rs 2 per litre in the last two weeks. Diesel prices are also rising, with petrol in Pune at Rs 90 per litre and diesel at Rs 78.97 per litre.

Petrol prices were relatively stable during the lockdown period. However, in the last few days, the rise in international crude oil prices has led to a gradual rise in fuel prices. On November 20, petrol was priced at Rs 87.67 per litre in Pune and diesel at Rs 75.71 per litre. It increased significantly in the last three weeks. In September 2018, petrol prices in the city had crossed ninety. Some days petrol was getting Rs 91 to 92 per litre.

The Center and the state government had reduced the rates of fuel after some people took a stand against the rising fuel prices.

“At present, the price of petrol in Pune has gone up to Rs 90. The rate hike is expected to continue for the next three to four days. International crude oil prices have risen. The price of petrol may stay a little close to ninety for a few days”, informed Ali Daruwala, Spokesperson, All India Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA).
