Kharadi, 3rd March 2022: Two cousin sisters who were staying as paying guests (PG) were allegedly locked up and beaten for demanding deposit money. On the other hand, the landlady alleged that the girls were unhappy after she objected to their drinking habits and one of them wanted to bring her boyfriend to the room.

After getting complaints from both sides, Chandan Nagar police station has registered two FIRs.

According to police, the two girls are aged 20 and 21. They were staying as PG for the last two months in Kharadi. They used to pay Rs 3800 as rent in advance and had paid deposit money of Rs 4,000.

However, there were arguments between the owners and the girls over trivial issues and the girls informed the owners at the beginning of February that will leave the room at the end of the month.

Around 8.30 pm on Monday (February 28), the girls were taking their goods when the two owners locked them and beat them with their hands. Meanwhile, a friend of the girls who had gone to hire an autorickshaw reached there and the girls were rescued. He had also clicked photos of the incident. On the next day, the girls went to get their remaining goods including a laptop, however, the landlady was not ready to give. One of the girls took away her phone and went to the police station.

The cops called the landlady and made her hand over the laptop to the girls and they returned her phone.

Later, an FIR was registered against the accused women for offences under sections 323, 341, 342 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

On the other hand, the landlady has alleged that the girls used to smoke outside and drink alcohol for which they were warned. One of the girls also wanted to bring her boyfriend to the room but the owner had refused and he clicked her photos. “The girls thrashed me and also assaulted me with a stick. After getting a letter from police, I went to Sassoon Hospital and got the treatment”, the woman stated in her complaint.

On the landlady’s complaint, police have registered FIR against the girls and another woman who had accompanied them for offences under sections 323, 324, 34, 504, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). She had also stated that the accused threatened to kill her if she did not take back her complaint against some people associated with a lodge for illegal activities there.

Police are further investigating both cases.
