Pimpri Chinchwad Cyber Police Arrest Six in Bank Account Fraud Scheme

Pimpri Chinchwad, 28th January 2025: Six individuals have been arrested by the Pimpri Chinchwad Police’s Cyber Police Station for providing bank accounts used in cyber fraud operations. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into cybercrime activities.

The arrested suspects include Shubham Mohan Londhe, Sam alias David alias Sambidh Kumar Shripati Nayak, Professor alias Himanshu Kumar Ganesh Thakur, Rajansh Singh Santosh Singh, Gaurav Anil Kumar Sharma, and Ankush Ramrao More. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode stated that the main accused, Sam alias David, had been contacting account holders across India via Telegram for the past two years. He would then provide these accounts to the primary suspect based in Cambodia.

DCP Doiphode further explained that the operation was initiated based on information received by Police Constable Hemant Kharat during an ongoing cybercrime investigation. The tip-off suggested that Shubham Londhe was involved in providing bank accounts for cyber crimes. Upon interrogation, Londhe revealed that he had given the accounts to Sam alias David. Further investigation revealed that Sam had been using more than 20 mobile numbers. He was arrested on 23rd January in Hinjawadi.

Based on information from Sam, the police conducted raids on hotels in Bhugaon, Ghotawade, Bhukum, Bavdhan, and Hinjawadi, detaining five account holders for questioning. The suspects were using couriers to send bank kits to a flat in Bavdhan in order to avoid detection. Rajansh Singh was apprehended at the Bavdhan flat. He was responsible for collecting the bank kits and forwarding them to the main accused in Cambodia, said DCP Doiphode.

The police have seized 9 mobile phones, 1 tablet, and 10 checkbooks. Investigations reveal that the accused have provided thousands of bank accounts to the main suspect in Cambodia over the past two years.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Dr. Vishal Hire. The team was led by Senior Police Inspector Ankush Nale and included Assistant Police Inspector Praveen Swami, Police Sub Inspector Sagar Poman, and others.
