Pimpri Chinchwad, 20th February 2025: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police have arrested two individuals in Nagpur for allegedly defrauding a person of Rs 51.48 lakh through a fake Google review task scheme. The accused, identified as Bintu Sanjay Singh and Roshan Rajesh Talsaniya, were apprehended following an investigation into the online fraud case.

According to police officials, the suspects lured the victim with promises of financial gains for completing Google review tasks. They sent a link to the victim, instructing them to invest in various currencies. The victim, believing the scheme to be legitimate, invested a total of Rs 51.48 lakh through different transactions. However, the accused neither provided any returns nor completed the promised tasks, effectively swindling the victim.

A case has been registered against eight individuals at the Cyber Police Station in connection with this fraud. Investigators discovered that Rs 5.98 lakh of the defrauded amount was transferred to a Bank of Maharashtra account in Chandrapur. Through technical analysis, the cyber police identified two of the suspects. Bintu Singh allegedly collected bank accounts from individuals and passed them on to Roshan for fraudulent activities.

The arrest was carried out by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Ravikiran Nale, in charge of the Cyber Police Station, which included Assistant Inspector Pravin Swami, Sub-Inspectors Sagar Poman and Vaibhav Patil, along with other police personnel.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Doiphode, in charge of the Crime Branch under whose purview the Cyber Police Station falls, warned the public about such scams, advising, “Use only SEBI-approved applications for stock market investments. SEBI-approved platforms do not ask for deposits into multiple accounts. Ensure you’re not investing in fake platforms. Never share your mobile screen, bank account details, or personal information under any circumstances.”
