Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Gears Up for Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram Palkhi Processions

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 14th June 2025: The annual Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj are set to enter Pimpri Chinchwad city, with major civic preparations underway. Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi will arrive at Bhakti Shakti Chowk on 19th June, followed by Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s palkhi entering the city on 20th June.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh led a review and inspection of the palkhi routes to ensure smooth passage and robust arrangements for the thousands of Warkaris (devotees) expected to participate. Singh was accompanied by Vitthal Mandir trustees, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil, City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore, and other senior officials from various municipal and police departments.
Commissioner Singh instructed that all road repairs and electrical work along the palkhi routes must be completed within two days. He emphasized the removal of encroachments and the implementation of monsoon-related disaster management measures. Arrangements for potable water and emergency medical services, including ambulances at key locations, were also directed to be put in place.
As per tradition, the PCMC will formally welcome the palkhis, Warkaris, trustees, and dindi leaders at Bhakti Shakti in Nigdi when the processions enter city limits. Singh also reviewed the set-up of the welcome center and other amenities at this location. Additionally, he inspected facilities at Vitthal Mandir in Akurdi, where Sant Tukaram Maharaj’s palkhi will halt, as well as at Vitthal Rukmini Mandir in Kharalwadi, Khandoba Mal, Kalbhor Nagar, and other key stops.
The comprehensive preparations by the municipal corporation and police are aimed at ensuring a safe, smooth, and spiritually uplifting experience for all participants in the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi processions this year.
