Pimpri-Chinchwad, 27th June 2025: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has taken a major step toward promoting holistic development and sporting excellence by inaugurating one of India’s finest Olympic-grade climbing walls at Yoga Park, Pimple Saudagar. The facility was officially opened by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 18th June.

Sharing the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh wrote, “From Classrooms to Climbing Walls – PCMC’s vision for holistic development is taking shape.”

The climbing wall, built to international standards, is not just a sporting structure but a platform designed to nurture talent from the grassroots to the global stage. It is fully accredited by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and affiliated with both the UIAA (International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation) and the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing).

Sport climbing, which is now recognized by the International Olympic Committee, has been rapidly gaining popularity across the globe. With this state-of-the-art facility, students, amateurs, and professionals in the city now have access to infrastructure that meets international benchmarks.

The wall and its coaching academy will be open to the public after the monsoon season. In a move toward inclusive growth, the facility will also cater to children from PCMC schools and underserved communities, ensuring equitable access to top-tier training and opportunities.

Strategically located in the fast-developing area of Pimple Saudagar, well connected to Wakad, Pimple Nilakh, and the broader city, the facility is envisioned as a hub for community engagement and sporting spirit. PCMC has invited citizens to explore and utilize the new facility and support the rising culture of sports in the region.
