Alandi, 27th June 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey today visited Alandi and Dehu to review security arrangements ahead of the upcoming Palkhi ceremonies. The annual procession, steeped in religious significance, draws devotees in large numbers, making robust security measures essential.

During his visit, Commissioner Choubey inspected the security systems in place and issued directives to enhance the arrangements further. He interacted with local officials, trustees, and community leaders associated with the organizing committees of both Shri Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan at Shrikshetra Dehu and Shree Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sansthan at Alandi.

Accompanying Commissioner Choubey were Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, DCPs Sandeep Doifode, Madhuri Kangane, Bapu Bangar, Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and other senior police officers from various departments. The officials discussed strategies to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the Palkhi ceremony, which includes foot patrols and monitoring of crowded areas to prevent thefts and pickpocketing incidents.

In light of previous incidents where thieves targeted distracted devotees, this year’s security measures have been escalated. CCTV cameras have been strategically installed along the Palkhi route and around the palanquin itself to enhance surveillance and deter criminal activities. Police personnel, both in uniform and plainclothes, have been deployed to maintain vigilance and promptly respond to any security concerns.
