Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate Takes Action Against 12 Organized Crime Gangs Under MCOCA

Chinchwad, 1st January 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate (PCPC), under the leadership of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, marks a significant achievement in its efforts to combat organized crime. Taking swift action against 12 gangs under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), the commissionerate aims to bring peace and security to the industrial town.

Commissioner Choubey assumed charge with a focus on crime control, particularly targeting criminals who posed a threat to public safety. Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards crime, Choubey directed all police officers and enforcers to eradicate criminal activities in the jurisdiction.

Under the Commissioner’s guidance, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has taken action against a total of 60 accused individuals associated with 12 organized crime gangs by the end of December 2023. Notably, a total of 357 accused from 51 organized crime gangs were booked under MCOCA till now in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Individual Gang Actions:

1) The Wakad Police Station is investigating IPC sections 395, 323, 506(2), 427, Arms Act 4(25), Maharashtra Police Act Section 37(1)(3) 135. The accused, Rohan alias Gangya Vasudev Waghmare (gang leader), aged 28 years, residing at Wakad Pune, is being probed for offences under Criminal Law Amendment Act 3 and 7.

2) The Chakan Police Station is looking into a case involving IPC sections 395, 364(A), 387, and 120B. The accused, Shubham Yuvraj Sarode (gang leader), aged 21 years, resides at Chakan.

3) Nigdi Police Station is investigating a case under IPC sections 302, 307, 326, 324, 143, 147, 148, 149, 504, Arms Act 4(25), Maharashtra Police Act Section 37(1)(3) 135. The accused, Mohammad alias Mamya Mehbub Korbu (gang leader), aged 28 years, resides in Nigdi.

4) Pimpri Police Station is handling a case involving IPC sections 307, 323, 506, 34, Arms Act Sections 4(25), 4(27), Maharashtra Police Act Section 37(1)(3) 135, Criminal Law Amendment Act 3 & 7. The accused, Prakash alias Dabbal Surendra Ram (Gang Leader), aged 30 years, residing in Pimpri.

5) Another case at Pimpri Police Station involves IPC sections 386, 387, 504, 506, 212, 34, Arms Act 4(25), Maharashtra Police Act 37(1)(3) 135, Criminal Law Amendment Act Section 7. The accused, Akash alias Jilbya Yadav Gaikwad (gang leader), aged 26 years, residing in Chinchwad.

6) Sangvi Police Station is investigating offences under IPC sections 392, 34, and 411, with the accused being Anand Sunil Salunke (gang leader), aged 19 years, from Khadki.

7) Nigdi Police Station is handling a case under IPC sections 392, 414, 34. The accused under investigation is Lakhan alias Bablu Avadhut Sharma (gang leader), aged 19 years, residing in Chinchwad.

8) Bhosari Police Station is looking into a case under IPC sections 387, 385, 504, 506, 34. The accused, Akshay Nandkishore Gawali (gang leader), aged 28 years, resides in Khadki Pune.

9) Sangvi Police Station is investigating offences under IPC sections 392, 34, and 411, with the accused being Anand Sunil Salunke alias Lohar (gang leader), aged 19 years, from Khadki, Pune.

10) Another case at Sangvi Police Station involves IPC sections 307, 143, 147, 148, 149, 506(2), Arms Act 4(25)(27), Maharashtra Police Act Section 37(1)(3) 135, Criminal Law Amendment Act Section 7. The accused, Akshay alias Jogya Hemant Jadhav (gang leader), aged 25 years, resides in Old Sangvi.

11) Chikhali Police Station is investigating a case under IPC sections 395, 397, 504, 506, and 427, with the accused being Atish Baldev Kori (gang leader), aged 21 years, residing in Chikhali.

12) Sangvi Police Station is investigating IPC sections 392, 411, and 34, revealing serious crimes registered against the accused Anand Sunil Salunke (gang leader), aged 19 years, from Khadki.

The top 12 gang leaders formed organized criminal gangs, utilizing violence to establish dominance, create terror, and achieve financial gains through illegal means. The crimes committed include murder, attempted murder, robbery, theft, extortion, and more, with a pattern of escalating violence.

Upon discovering that all accused individuals formed organized criminal gangs and used violence for domination and financial gain, the Commissionerate took action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act, 1999. Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi scrutinized the proposal and authorized the inclusion of Section 3 (1) (ii) and 3 (4) of the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act, 1999.

The successful operation is credited to the notable performance of Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioners Vivek Patil, Kakasaheb Dole, Swapna Gore and Sandeep Doifade, as well as various Assistant Commissioners, Senior Police Inspectors, and Constables involved in the crackdown.
