Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Destroy Ganja, MD Drugs Worth Over Rs 23 Crore
Pune, 30th September 2025: In a major anti-drug operation, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate destroyed narcotics valued at approximately ₹23.30 crore, seized in various NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act) cases.
The move, guided by Commissioner of Police Shri Vinay Kumar Choubey, is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug sales and substance abuse in the city.
The destruction took place on 29 September 2025 at Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd, Ranjangaon MIDC, Tal. Shirur, Pune.
Representatives from the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Crime Branch, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory Pune, State Excise Department, and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board were present to oversee the process.
The operation involved narcotics from 90 different cases, which were incinerated in a furnace.
The seized drugs included:
Ganja (Cannabis): 662.455 kg, valued at approximately ₹3.31 crore
Mephedrone (MD): 19.997 kg, valued at approximately ₹19.99 crore
The total value of the destroyed narcotics amounted to roughly ₹23.30 crore.
Senior police officials supervising the operation included Sarang Awad, Additional Commissioner of Police; Shweta Khedkar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters); Shri Sandeep Atole, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone-1; and Dr. Shivaji Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime).
