Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Police Launches Crackdown on Traffic Rule Violators
Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th April 2023: The industrial areas in Chakan, Bhosari, and Talegaon, as well as Hinjawadi, Talwade, and Chikhli IT Park in Pimpri Chinchwad Police limits, have seen tremendous growth in recent years.
Many people work in these areas and rely on two-wheelers and four-wheelers to commute. However, the number of accidents, both serious and minor, has increased due to drivers ignoring road rules and driving on the wrong side or riding triple seats, which is a punishable offence.
To address this issue, Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Manoj Lohia, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Shinde, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Kakasaheb Dole ordered a targeted campaign against such offenders.
From March 24 to March 31, the Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police, led by Vivek Patil, took action against drivers violating traffic rules, resulting in 471 cases being filed under Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code. Of these, 313 were for driving on the wrong side, and 158 were for riding triple seats.
