Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad residents suffer power cut for over 30 hours

Pune, 4 June 2020: The electricity consumers in many areas of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad area are suffering power cuts for more than 30 hours. The power supply in many areas of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad remained suspended for over 30 hours (till Thursday afternoon), due to the gusty winds as an impact by Cyclone Nisarga which hit the Maharashtra coastal areas on Wednesday.

 

This has caused inconvenience to many residents and largely affected those working from home. Social media, especially Twitter has been flooded with complaints. The residents have asked authorities to resume the power supply as soon as possible.

 

Vinay Kumar Mishra posted on Twitter, “@MSEDCL no electricity in Swapantirth society, Ambegaon budruk Pune 411046 from last 18hours. Please do something.”

 

Commander Vikram W Karve tweeted, “@MSEDCL @CMDMSEDCL Power Supply disrupted since yesterday due to transformer failure in Rohan Tarang Society, Wakad, PCMC, Pune. Complaint made via Mahavitaran App. Request repair on priority. No Power Supply for more than 24 Hours in Rohan Tarang Society Wakad.”

 

“@MSEDCL What’s the updated status for power failure outage. No power here for more than 24 hours now,” posted Sarabjot Singh, resident of Marunji.

 

“31 hours without Electricity and no one cares! Is this stone age? The common citizen is just helpless in front of these utility maintenance workers, absolutely helpless,” Mohit Joshi, another resident of Marunji, tweeted.

 

Talking to Punekarnews.in, the head of Pimpri division Wayfalkar said, “electricity in Wakad will be restored by 3:30 pm, Rahatani is also facing severe power cut-off, and will be restored by 5 pm. The work in Tathawade is completed, and the power will be running anytime soon, whereas, in Hinjawadi Phase 2, it has just been revived. Ultimately, the electricity will be up and working by 5 pm, mostly in all the areas. We have constantly been working and request the citizens to bear with us, and not to keep calling us continuously,” he added stating that “we are working on the inconvenience caused.”

 

People complained of power cuts in Lohegaon, Wagholi, Kondhwa NIBM road, Undri, Sinhgad road areas also. The MSEDCL officials said they are working to resume power supply in all areas of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad by today evening. Many electric poles, transformers and wires have been damaged and they are being repaired and changed.
