Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police Crack Down on Tinted Glass and Noise Pollution; Over 2,000 Vehicle Owners Penalized
Chinchwad, 7th December 2023: In a major crackdown on traffic violations, the Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police have taken decisive action against black filming on vehicle windows and loud silencers. From October 15 to November 30, more than 2,000 vehicles with tinted windows were penalized, and action was also taken against 1,032 bike riders with loud silencers. The initiative aims to curb potential criminal activities, and accidents, and maintain transparency in vehicle windows.
Key Actions Taken:
1. Black Filming Crackdown: The Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police removed black film from the windows of 2,278 vehicles during the 45 days. Black filming has been considered a status symbol, but it poses risks, including potential involvement in illegal activities and criminal transportation.
2. Loud Silencer Offenders: Action was taken against 1,032 bike riders who had replaced their original silencers with loud alternatives. The rise of such modifications has been causing disturbances for citizens.
3. No Parking Violations: The police cracked down on 13,694 vehicles during a campaign against illegal parking in restricted areas, leading to traffic jams and disruptions.
4. Ban on Heavy Vehicles: Despite a ban on heavy vehicles during the day to ensure smooth traffic flow, the police took action against 12,323 heavy vehicles seen violating the restriction.
Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey emphasized increasing police presence on the roads, especially during peak hours, to deter traffic violators and reduce crime. Instructing in-charge officers to conduct route marches and remain visible at intersections, the Commissioner aims to enhance public safety.
