Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police Imposes Rs 1500 Fine for BRT Lane Violations
Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th September 2023: In a bid to tackle the persistent issue of unauthorized vehicles infiltrating the dedicated ‘Bus Rapid Transit’ (BRT) lanes reserved for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses, the Traffic Branch of the Pimpri Chinchwad Police has taken a stern stance. Effective since September 1, 2023, motorists caught flouting this regulation now face a hefty Rs 1500 fine.
This decisive move comes in response to the relentless incursions of both light and heavy vehicles onto the BRT lanes. Such infractions have not only wreaked havoc on the steel railings, bus stops, and road infrastructure but have also heightened the risk of accidents, leading to both human casualties and financial burdens.
Only emergency services vehicles such as fire brigades, police and ambulances will be exempted from entering the BRT lanes.
