Pisoli, 8th September 2025: The issue of stray dogs in Pisoli has once again raised concerns among residents after a dog bite case was reported in July. Despite a complaint being lodged, local authorities failed to capture the stray even after multiple attempts, and eventually stopped responding, allege locals.

Resident Tehseen Teerandaz highlighted the urgency of the situation, stressing the need for mass sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs in the area. He also urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to set up designated feeding zones across Pisoli, as per court orders, to better regulate the movement and feeding of stray animals.

“Mass sterilization and vaccination are necessary. We also request PMC to provide fixed feeding slots in Pisoli at various places, as per the court order,” said Teerandaz.

Responding to the concerns, a senior PMC official assured residents that measures were underway. “We are working on it. As you know, this type of dog situation is very critical and has to be handled carefully. We are carrying out vaccination and sterilization, and the process will be completed as soon as possible,” the official said.

The stray dog population has become a pressing civic issue in several Pune localities, with Pisoli residents now demanding faster, coordinated action to ensure both public safety and animal welfare.
